Life is a mix
of beautiful and brutal.
Some moments bring us to our knees;
others lift us into the open sky.
Of Ash & Honey
is where those truths are held—
where the focus turns toward what’s next,
and the wild complexity of being human.
Here you’ll find essays, reflections, and poems from a life rebuilt.

Hi friend,
I’m Katherine — a writer, leader, and storyteller from Ketchikan, Alaska.
I’ve lived through loss, rebuilding, and renewal. I’ve learned that transformation isn’t a single moment — it’s a lifelong practice.
This space is where I share the lessons, poetry, and reflections that emerged from that journey.
It’s not about what happened — it’s about what we create from it, and who we become in the process.
Welcome to my corner of the internet. I’m glad you’re here
With Love ~ Katherine
“To be human is to carry
light and shadow, love and fear,
and still choose to create who we become.”
This is where the story unfolds.
Not in a straight line, but in fragments, in fires, in healing, and hope.
A mix of reflections, essays, poetry, and teachings on life, love, loss, grief, trauma, emotional & psychological abuse, and the beautiful parts of life.
The Fire — Aftermath of grief and exploded love.
The Fog — Numbness, confusion, grief
The Creation — Rebuilding from the inside out.
Homecoming — Returning to the woman I have always been.
Legacy — Carrying forward what matters
The Next Chapter — Living, loving, dreaming— excited for what is next.
Tools + Truths — insights for the journey

Each piece stands alone. You don’t have to read in order—just begin where your heart lands.
My hope is that someone out there will see themselves in my story, and know they are not alone.
