An Obvious Test

Nyan Cat Scarf Success
Nyan Cat Scarf Success

I think I can officially say that I have mastered crochet.

The obvious test?

A Nyan Cat scarf.

Six different colors.

A 204-stitch chain.

A zigzag design.

Multiple stitches I had to pause and look up on YouTube just to make sure I was doing them right.

And then — because apparently I don’t do anything halfway —

I had to crochet a Pop-Tart cat.

A full pastry body, complete with frosting and sprinkles.

Then a head.

Ears.

Three tiny legs.

A tail.

Attach all of it.

Embroider the face.

Sew the cat parts into the Pop-Tart.

And then attach the entire Pop-Tart cat to the scarf.

So. Many. Steps.

And I did every single one of them — I think.

It was fun to make for Emily.

When I texted her a photo, she replied:

“So cute.”

I can't wait for her to wear it one day,

and then lose it in her apartment until she moves out.
