I Owe You An Explanation

I’m sure you have been dying to know how my crochet journey has been going.

How could you not?

I spent months and months sharing updates on my different projects, the progress I was making, and what it all represented about what was happening inside of me.

All incredibly riveting reading, I’m sure.

And then, I just kinda stopped sharing updates.

First, I’m sorry.

Second, summer hit and I almost completely stopped crocheting.

There were even moments when I wondered if I had forgotten how to crochet entirely. And whether the ten different project kits I had purchased online might have been a bit ambitious.

But I am happy to report that I have not forgotten the new skill I mastered rather quickly.

I do, however, have five unfinished projects that I have been working on VERY slowly.

I started a cardigan for Desiree back in the spring with the goal of having it finished before she went back to college. I was so close. Then I discovered that the pattern I had followed precisely had resulted in sleeves that were approximately six inches too long.

So I ripped them out and started over.

That was well over a month ago.

The sleeves are almost done now.

The cardigan might be finished by Christmas.

Then, shortly before I left on my trip with Jack, I had some free time and, because apparently I didn't have enough unfinished projects, I started a sweater for myself.

That’s going okay.

I brought it with me on our trip, fully convinced I would crochet during all my free time on the road and in the evenings. I even packed extra yarn, just in case I was so wildly productive that I ran out.

I crocheted a little during a pool day in Colorado Springs.

Then I didn’t touch it again until the airplane ride home.

Oopsy.

And then there are the blankets I thought were such a great idea to start.

I am becoming increasingly confident that crocheting afghans is not my thing.

Unfortunately, I am also not a quitter.

So now I have five unfinished crochet projects, several bags of yarn, and absolutely no intention of admitting that perhaps I got a little carried away when I discovered I could crochet.

Anyway, that's the crochet update I'm sure you've all been anxiously awaiting.
