Don't Call Me Grandma

We’re nine days into 2026,

and I’ve been having so much fun.

In big ways.

In small ways.

Beautiful people.

Quality time.

Deep conversations.

Surprise visits.

Fun overnights.

It’s been the perfect entry into this year.

In between all of that living,

I’ve taught myself a new skill.

I feel a little self-conscious sharing it—

like it might not be impressive enough by certain people’s metrics.

But honestly… who cares.

I like it.

So here goes.

I’m teaching myself how to crochet.

So far, I’ve made three adorable little 3D stuffed animals.

I crocheted myself a scarf with ridges and ruffly edges.

I crocheted sixteen pink and yellow flower granny squares and whip-stitched them into a scarf for my sweet Desiree.

And right now, I’m working on a shawl—

just to get the practice.

I have no clue what I’m doing.

I have more hooks and yarn than any reasonable person needs.

I've only made one late night, emergency trip to Walmart to get the right size hook for a new project I had no clue how to do.

And I am having an absolute blast figuring it out and creating things that are both adorable and beautiful.

Who knows how long I’ll do this.

Probably just until something else sparks my curiosity.

But until then…

What can I make for you?

And don’t you dare call me grandma.
